Sandy Springs adds miles of street paving with $1.27 million grant

Sandy Springs added road sections to its resurfacing project by using additional funds from the Georgia Department of Transportation Provided by Sandy Springs Key Points The Sandy Springs City Council approved adding city street sections to its annual resurfacing project The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded a million Local Road Assistant grant to the city An unexpected million grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation will enable Sandy Springs to resurface sections of an additional city streets The Sandy Springs City Council approved a change order during its Nov meeting to a contract with East Coast Grading to add the resurfacing using Local Road Assistance LRA funds distributed by GDOT Citizens Works Director Marty Martin commented the LRA funds came after the council awarded a million contract to the company in May Using the city s street conditions document East Coast Grading submitted a proposal for an additional million in resurfacing work slightly more than the LRA distribution Martin announced the city has funds to cover the additional cost to resurface miles of city streets The total cost of the resurfacing project will be million Martin commented East Coast Grading s unit rates for the additional street sections were consistent with the rates set in the original contract awarded in May Adding these street sections extends the contract period by days setting a new project completion date of June Martin stated the department chose to make a change order to the existing contract instead of bidding out the additional funds because of the deadline set by GDOT to complete the LRA work by the end of June Putting it out to bid might not allow completion before the deadline The additional road sections scheduled for resurfacing include Bittersweet Trail Sagebrush Drive to cul-de-sac miles Black Water Trail Riverside Drive to Old Harbor Drive miles Brandon Ridge Drive Wright Road to Ridge Mill Lane miles Brinkley Lane Huntley Drive to Huntley Drive miles Brookgreen Road Hammond Drive to Glenforest Road miles Churchill Drive Skyridge Drive to Blenheim Place miles Dogwood Valley Drive Trimble Trail to Northland Drive miles Ivy Brooke Court Lake Forrest Drive to cul-de-sac miles Jett Ferry Road Spalding Drive to Jett Ferry Court miles La Tour Drive Jett Ferry Road to cul-de-sac miles North Harbor Drive Riverside Drive to Johnson Ferry Road miles Northside Drive Riverview Road to Indian Trail miles Patrick Place Brookgreen Road to Greenbrier Road miles Pauley Place Brookgreen Road to Greenbrier Road miles Quarry Lake Court Lake Forrest Drive to cul-de-sac miles Ridge Mill Lane Brandon Ridge Drive to cul-de-sac miles Stone Mill Trail Marsh Creek Court to Wright Road miles Wembley Lane Lake Forrest Drive to cul-de-sac miles Wright Road Brandon Ridge to Drive Abernathy Road miles The post Sandy Springs adds miles of street paving with million grant appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
