MARTA to close select faregates for Breeze payment system upgrade

Work continues on MARTA s Better Breeze system which will change the way transit fares are collected at stations MARTA is in the process of making changes to Breeze cards and tickets faregates and validators ticket vending machines and modernizing its mobile app The transit authority says upcoming work will require detours at the following station entrances Monday Dec H E Holmes StationWest faregates closed Customers entering through the tunnel from the north parking lot must walk to the east faregates near the bus loop Allow approximately three extra minutes Tuesday Dec Civic Center StationOne set of faregates on both the Northbound and Southbound platforms will close Customers should use the alternate faregates on each platform and allow approximately two extra minutes Monday Dec Midtown StationSouth faregates facing Peachtree Place closed Customers should use the north faregates facing th Street Allow approximately three extra minutes Fare equipment construction also continues at the following stations West End North Springs Kensington Doraville Indian Creek Dunwoody East Point Lindbergh Ashby and Georgia State Ongoing work will not impact rail or bus utility Passengers are requested to follow signs and listen for announcements at stations The existing Breeze mobile app fare media and equipment are still being used at this time MARTA s new Better Breeze system includes NEW FARE EQUIPMENT New contactless fare payment equipment systemwide including faregates and fareboxes validators and touch screen Breeze vending machines The new faregates are harder to tamper with and can be monitored and adjusted remotely reducing incidents of fare evasion resulting in a safer more secure transit system NEW PAYMENT FEATURE Open payment where you can tap your bank card or mobile wallet at the faregate or farebox to pay for your ride NEW APP Breeze Mobile is going away Customers will need to download a new app and create a new account with a virtual Breeze card to purchase fare NEW BREEZE CARDS New cards and continued options of multi-day and monthly passes Breeze cards will be account-based and fare stored in the customer s account rather than on the card For information on station impacts and entrance detours visit MARTA The post MARTA to close select faregates for Breeze payment system upgrade appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
