Ex-Loveland cop found guilty of federal charge relating to sex assault of teen

After about hours of deliberations jurors determined -year-old Dylan Miller guilty of violating the civil rights of a teenage girl who accused him of sexually assaulting her while on duty in August of Judge Nina Wang shared the verdict in U S District Court in Denver about p m Tuesday The jury deliberated all day on Monday beginning at a m and for about six and a half hours on Tuesday before finding Miller guilty of deprivation of civil rights a class four felony according to the indictment The teen who used the pseudonym Olivia during the trial to protect her identity declared Miller approached her and a friend in North Lake Park shortly after midnight and that he demanded her friend to leave according to the arrest affidavit from a Larimer County affair Miller then led Olivia to a secluded area of the park where he made her perform oral sex on him the affidavit states In a short recess following the verdict Miller shared an emotional embrace with friends and family in the courtroom He will be taken into federal custody until his sentencing hearing which was not set in court Tuesday to give attorneys time to discuss scheduling with their clients The -year-old faces up to a life sentence in prison Defense attorney Reid Elkus stated his band plans on filing a motion for acquittal which he has days to do but indicated he would be requesting a -day extension to file Miller is also facing state charges in th Judicial District Court in Fort Collins of first-degree kidnapping a class felony sexual assault of a child from a position of trust a class felony unlawful sexual conduct by a peace officer a class felony sexual assault of a person with a -year-age difference a class felony official oppression a class misdemeanor and first-degree official misconduct a class misdemeanor for the affair according to court records He has not entered a plea in this episode and is presumed innocent until proven guilty regardless of the guilty verdict in his federal occurrence Miller is set to appear in court in Fort Collins on Dec at a m
