Atlanta Pride and Out on Film name recipients of Reel Resistance Fellowship grants
Atlanta Pride and Out on Film have declared the five recipients for the Reel Resistance Fellowship Earlier this year Atlanta Pride and Out on Film presented a special screening of Andy Warhol s film Lonesome Cowboys during a two-day locality summit at Agnes Scott College The summit was funded in part by grants from The Neighborhood Corps South Arts and Larch Creative Fund in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts According to a press release the Reel Resistance Fellowship campaign is also part of this partnership The fellowship is a six-month venture aimed at empowering LBGTQ filmmakers in Georgia to explore the queer region s history through short-form documentary and narrative films A production stipend will be provided to the selected projects This year five filmmakers were chosen to create - minute films that spotlight people places and movements that have shaped queer life in Georgia The filmmakers and projects are Beyond the Doors of from Malachi King The Center of Atlanta Working Title from Carlo Velayo Eight Heels and a Hard Truth from Aubrianna Escalera Meet Us at the Winecoff from Jesse Grainger and When We Rise in the South from Brad Bailey Atlanta Pride is committed to preserving our collective history as a society connector stated Steven Igarashi director of communications and area engagement for Atlanta Pride in the release We are excited to partner with Out on Film in this new initiative that will spotlight stories and voices that have been unheard for too long The completed works will debut in June as part of Stonewall Month The post Atlanta Pride and Out on Film name recipients of Reel Resistance Fellowship grants appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
